Department of Agriculture have advised that effective 9th April, goods imported into Australia that require a Biosecurity Import Permit and are imported without a valid permit, will not be permitted entry into Australia – rather will be directed for either re-export or disposal by an approved method. This new requirement includes goods that are imported whilst the permit application process is still on going.

Previous to this, Biosecurity had allowed goods to remain in bond under Biosecurity Control pending the approval application process – this will no longer be possible after 9th April.
