The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) have issued an Industry Advice Notice advising importers to expect delays created due to this year’s BMSB Stink Bug Season.

DAWR advises the reason for this is the expanded list of target risk countries combined with various local onshore restrictions.

Further DAWR advise the following to reduce impact on the borders in Australia:

  • Industry are strongly encouraged to have their target high risk goods treated by an approved OFFSHORE provider prior to arrival into Australia
  • Cargo reports and Full Import Declarations (FIDs) should be lodged accurately and as early as possible
